Very Cool
By Chris on 9th September 2015
Very cool service-

Sadly while my stamp was old it was not worth as much as it would have been if the post mark had been in red - somehting the internet did not tell me. The expert even gave me examples of stamps that have sold similar to mine.

Now rummaging through the house to see what else I can value as it was still very very interesting. Got alot more information than an internet search would have provided.
Totally Inaccurate "appraisal!" Hope people do their own research!
By Susan G. on 1st August 2015
My insurance company wanted an appraisal of an item I have. They suggested this site.

Well, VMS came back with an "auction" estimate that was LESS than one-tenth the amount it was worth. And because it was needed for my insurance coverage, I could not submit it.

I submitted a different and ACCURATE appraisal from a well-respected business in the United States who GOT IT RIGHT!
Big difference between VMS at a $300 valuation and the U.S. Company who correctly valued it at over $4,000.

People need to do their homework and not take the word of these "experts" as gospel! I sent my item to THREE U.S. Companies and all were in the same ballpark - I chose the most well-known and they completed my appraisal immediately, charged nothing, and have nothing to gain unless I need to replace the item.

For $10.00 you might just get what you pay for - nothing! An idiot must have looked at my appraisal - and I never wanted an "auction" estimate. Maybe that's why they asked if I wanted to sell my $4,000. Item for $300.

Seller/Buyer beware!
Very Fast and helpful

I have used them a few times and the team there has always been very quick to respond and helpful. Great customer service would recommend them to anyone who needs to get something valued.
NOt as much information as I wanted, but only £10!
By Gail Martin on 17th July 2015
I was hping for more information about my picture, but I guess the valuator couldn't make out the signature and just said' American School, Late 20th century'. Still I got the auction and insurance prices quite fast for only £10 and now I can auction it with them
Very pleased with my valuation!
By Francesca on 14th July 2015
Thank you Value My Stuff for valuing my vintage clothing collection and other bits and bobs from my mother. I'm not too tech savvy, but found the site easy to use and was very pleased with the speedy and informative appraisal provided. You suggested I consign my clothing to a specialist clothing dealer, and I was so glad to have more information about the pieces before I did!!! I have some more items to get valued and maybe will try your auction site next time!
FANTASTIC VALUE FOR MONEY
By Anonymous on 10th July 2015
I found this valuation service very easy to use with a quick turnaround of 48 hours. My valuation was detailed and very much worth £10! I will be using again and would recommend. Very helpful administrative staff too.
Dragons & Dungeons (dragon den invested)... they should all be put away in dungeons
By upset from London on 12th June 2015
I asked about a vintage Raymond Weil. £100!! then they would put it into an auction for £60. it seems they are acting like the " sell your gold" companies. He got all the information wrong, it was a wind up watch not as they said and so much more. walk to cash converters, it will save you money.
Total waste of time!

I so thought they would be good. I saw this on dragons den and thought what a great idea. The dragons asked how do you get these valued, how do you get all these experts? I believe they don't.

my opinion but reading some of these valued at £300.00 , sold for 12k does prove a lot.
Completely worthless site - DO NOT WASTE YOUR $$$
By Anonymous on 13th November 2014
I submitted numerous photos and lengthy description of a vintage chinese articulated and lighted wall screen.  Hand cut color etched glass on both sides with fluorescent lights running down the interior of the frame.  Landscapes on one side and still life images on the other.  It is simply beautiful to look at and truly spectacular to see lit up.  The screen is 6 feet tall, over 8' long and weighs in at over 250lbs of ebonized hand carved mahogany.  My father received on-site appraisals for the piece over 20 years ago between $8,000 to $10,000.  I have traveled the world and never seen one like it anywhere.

The VMS appraised it at .... (insert drum roll here) .... $120.

Simply laughable.  I can't imagine how simple it must be to be one of their "experts".

Unfortunately there is no option for a rating of negative stars.
So Disappointing.

A few months ago I valued an early American Soccer Medal from 1913-1914, using Value My Stuff, and from memory, they valued it at £700-£800, which I believed to be very low. I sold the medal in the USA 6 weeks ago for $7500.
Today I just received a valuation on my very rare display clock, which they gave an auction valuation at £500-£800.
I have turned down 2 offers for this of £1500 and £2500 over 3 years ago. Mind you, they did state (' Re. Pricing: There are obviously no exact comparables but I have priced this item alongside other saleman's oversize samples, e.g. a washing machine, furniture samples and clocks) Mmmmm.
Well, further to this farcical parallel, I conclude that either their so called experts are totally unemployable by bona fide salerooms, or they build their reputation by helping non Internet users search Ebay and past auction results, and give their valuations based on their findings. It is my guess that the valuations are not given by 'experts' at all, but people quickly trained to research on the web.
For items such as mine, which are out of the ordinary, they are absolutely useless.
Hey Ho.

I have had a couple of valuations done.  Their opinions were very short and sweet.  Not much information.

They bought WhatsitWorthtoyou.  That company gave very detailed information and usually covered 1/2 page to a full page.
I miss them.

This is sad.
Good Service!
By Katie G. on 24th September 2014
Great customer service experience with valuemystuff.com. I found it really easy. The values were in the realm of what my English painting sold for. I was happy with the valuation and plan to use it again when I need to sell more stuff.
happy with service
By poor collector! on 2nd September 2014
I have been very happy with the service I have received from this company, all reports sent within the time specified. I thought a couple of values low but when I took them to a local auctioneers the confirmed that the market is poor at the moment and prices are low. Maybe many people are disappointed that their items aren't worth much (we all think our stuff is worth thousands, and if not hopefully hundreds!) especially when things are very old (I have some Victorian pottery which is not worth much).
Furniture

Very very poor service
By Jonny m on 28th February 2014
I went to value my stuff to have some golf clubs valued after I went to place them on ebay for next to nothing and in doing so actually discovered through Google that they might be quite valuable.
I sent the photo's, paid my hard earned cash and dutifully waited my obligatory 48 hours for my valuation. Then 72. Then a bit more. Nothing.
I asked whether there was a problem and they said they had some trouble finding someone to value antique golf clubs but had now found someone and they would give my valuation their fullest attention. So I waited a little longer. And a bit longer still. Heard nothing, dropped them another email and they said their service was poor and gave me my money back promising to have the valuation ASAP and for free! Great thought I, to myself. I can wait.

This was two weeks ago. Checked and mysteriously now my submission wasn't valid. Hmmm. I may wait a little longer, but I am a little concerned that unlike my lovely golf clubs, I won't increase in value with age......

Theo, Deborah...you don't happy to be left handed do you? Want some antique golf clubs? They are going for a great price but unfortunately I don't know what it is........
Laughable evaluation of Chinese pottery
By Anonymous on 23rd October 2013
I sent a couple clear photographs of my vase including a detailed picture of the artist's chop.  They not only didn't identify the Qing dynasty style, they said the chop was 'illegible' even though with my limited Chinese I can read the artist's name as Wang Nanlin.  When I searched on baidu, I got tons of pictures of stuff that looks almost identical in style, but with different hand painting.  This item was bought through the most reputable US west-coast auction house at the time (Butterfields & Butterfields).  It would be one thing if they identified the style and then called it a fake because of X, Y, Z, but they totally missed the boat - luckily I'm left with the impression that this was valued by an amateur.  Last week I went to a chinese pottery expert here in Shanghai and he valued the vase for 200K+ RMB (30000 pounds!!!).  It seems unbelievable, but true story - use an expert if you have reason to believe you have value!!  Value my stuff said $30-50 USD!!
Not always right in their evalutations!
By Anonymous on 20th September 2013
Understandably its hard to evalutate a photo...but I have had several items evalutated and as a test I gave them one that I already knew the worth of and had it appraised by a reputable auction house, this was a piece by a well known Italian artist worth a quite a few hundred dollars and they evalutated it at $20 - $30. I have other items valued as well and the same thing has happened...the item was worth alot more than what they valued it at. Also I have had an item that was not worth hardly anything and they valued it at well above its worth and told me it was an French made antique...NOT, it turned out to be late century Chinese import! I give up...I understand that not everything we think is worth lots, but at least to be given an honest estimate would be nice. I wonder if they are experts or some hired help who looks up your piece on the internet?
THEY ARE NOT EXPERT
By A collector on 11th September 2013
I bought a very rare item from a famous auction house with a lot of money. After a month I sent some photos to be valued because some one offered to pay me 12000 USD. It is some thousands dollars profit if I sell.

They could not believe that a very rare item like this should be with a poor guy like me (that pay 10 dollars to value the item). They estimated it for 15 USD.

I will never waste my time again.
Very prompt and happy with the service
By Sarah on 26th June 2013
I wanted a ring I recently purchased in India to be valued, and had taken it to a couple of stores locally. I wasn't convinced by their comments so thought I'd try valuemystuff. If Deborah of Dragon Dens has put money into the company it made me feel comfortable it must be a decent set up. I sent good quality images of my piece in this case a ring along with all the info I had which included stone weights. The report was turned around the same day with an accurate description and a valuation similar to one of the others I had received. I would use the site again.
Obviously it is an online service so thats the choice you are making to use them over a physical inspection, for me it served the purpose I wanted it for, and was simple and hassle free. Definitely up my street
VERY BAD
By Anonymous on 20th June 2013
I had really bad experience with Value my stuff. I sent them a photo of a ring made of rose gold and wrote that it was made of 14carat gold. They came back with the valuation in a very short time and wrote that my ring was made of a gold collored metal. And offcourse the ring was valued as a metal.
So, they haven't read my description!!!
They are just a waste of money.
Good experience
By CG on 7th August 2012
I had researched the Egyptian antiquity I sent photos of to VMS for valuation, so knew a bit about it. Their valuation came back and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the value of the item has increased quite a bit since the last listed sales of similar items with Christie's and Sotheby's in the past few years, and that there is a strong market for my antiquity. Their description of the time period of the item was absolutely correct. I am glad that I will not now be under-insured by several thousand for this irreplaceable artifact. BTW, my request was completed, as advertised within less than 48 hours, more like 30. I also requested a valuation from Christie's which will take much longer, 6-8 weeks. It will be interesting to compare the two!
Usaully late with valuations
By Anonymous on 23rd May 2012
Advertized to have a complete valuation in 48 hours, but in many cases it took 3 to 4 days to receive the valuations.
BE AWARE !!!
By Agnes on 9th May 2012
Waste time and money!
Not as advertized
By Anonymous on 8th May 2012
The company claims that valuations will be back in 48 hours. However, there are many cases when the valuations came back more than 4 or 5 days later. This is a form of false advertizement. Very disappointed.
Very poor valuation; I could have lost £1800!! BE WARNED.
By David on 20th February 2012
I recently sent photographs and a description of a signed, original, framed watercolour by the well-known artist Rowland Hilder for valuation to Value My Stuff. I included details of the gallery from where it was purchased in 1983 also. The valuation came back as £300-£400. I am so relieved I took no notice of this as the painting was sold for me last week for £2100 by a dealer who knows the market; seven times the lower estimate. I am aware that the VMS valuers are cautious to protect themselves but to be so wildly out is, to me, unacceptable and I am left with serious questions regarding the "expertise" of the person who valued my item. Needless to say, I shall not be using Value My Stuff again.

Fab service, I must admit I was expecting higher values, but then when I took the pottery to the local auctioneers to sell, they had been spot on with their values--would definately recommend...I wonder if the users who have been disappointed in the service were disappointed with their values rather than the service?
DON'T DO IT!!!
By Anonymous on 30th August 2011
We did a lot of valuations all of them were badly wrong all under valued, they don't know anything. You better wait and go to the Antiques Roadshow,it is fantastic! But Value My Stuff is bad.
Waste of time and money don't do it.

I did 9 valuations they were all very badly under-valued.
Great service, impressed
By Sally King on 18th August 2011
I submitted 8 items for valuation this week, and all 8 were returned within 48 hours and the experts gave me some great advise on the value of my items. Am clearing my mum's house, and this service came in very handy. Recommended.
A1 Service

Have had 20 items Valued and the information is priceless. I may think that they lowball a little, but I believe they are more in tune with the current market than I am. Great historical information is provided that would take me many hours to research. I think this is a fabulous service for the price.
spot on valuation
By Anonymous on 20th June 2011
Unlike the other rviewer, I had a positive experience with Value My Stuff.com - they valued a photograph shot by silent film star Harold Lloyd - got it spot on and meant I could accurately add to my house insurance
Dont do it, waste of time and money.
By Anonymous on 15th June 2011
Its a total waste of time and money. Every thing badly under valued, 10 pictures and not 1 was authenticated, despite 4 of them having been bought at sothebys in 1994. The last picture I commisioned 20years ago by Jacquie Jones in oils, and even this they would not commit and say YES, this is a Jacquie jones. Dont waste your money with on line quotes.
